Scaffold-Free Valley Inspections.

Why pay for access when you can pay for data?

Hiring scaffolding for terraced properties in Blaina or Nantyglo can be logistically difficult and expensive.

Our drone survey provides a faster, more practical alternative:

  • Evidence for Insurance: Validation for storm damage claims with 4K photos.
  • Industrial Audits: Efficient scanning of large commercial roofs on the estate.
  • Trace and Access: Find the exact entry point of a leak in minutes.

Blaina and Nantyglo: Upland Roofs Fail Differently

What sideways rain, render and steep ground do to an NP13 roof.

The Most Exposed Roofs We Fly

Blaina and Nantyglo sit high in the Ebbw Fach with the ground rising further behind them. Rainfall is heavier here than on the coast and it arrives sideways, so the failure pattern differs: water is pushed up under the verge and through the dry ridge rather than simply running off. We fly the windward elevation deliberately, because that is where an upland roof gives way.

Render, Stone and Wet Walls

Much of the older stock is rubble stone under render, and once the roof edge lets water in, the render holds it there. What looks like rising damp at the foot of a Blaina wall very often starts at a cracked verge or an overflowing hopper two storeys above it. Photographing the roof and the rainwater goods together is how the real source gets found.

Steep Ground, Long Terraces

Terraces here are set into the hillside, so the rear can sit a storey higher than the front and the roofline steps continuously along the row. Siting a ladder or a tower safely on that ground is genuinely difficult. A drone is indifferent to it and photographs every slope square-on from a consistent distance.

Survey Only, Fee Fixed

We carry out no repairs in Blaina or anywhere else, so a long defect list gains us nothing. The fee is agreed before we fly, you keep every raw image and the 4K video, and the written report is yours to put in front of an insurer or a roofer without anybody discounting it as a sales document.

Buying or Selling in NP13?

"The Mortgage Lender has put a retention on the house."

Banks often demand a "Specialist Roof Report" before releasing funds on period properties. Standard surveys often can't see high, complex roofs properly.

The Solution: We provide the high-level evidence your lender requires to lift the retention.

Insurance Claims & Storm Damage

If you are claiming for "Storm Event" damage, your insurer will demand proof that the damage is new and not just "wear and tear."

  • HD Evidence: 4K photos of fresh damage.
  • Date-Stamped Data: Proof for your claim.
  • Independent Validation: Unbiased reports.

NP13 Housing Intelligence

Our drones are calibrated to spot specific defects common to the Ebbw Fach Valley area:

  • Upland Exposure: Detecting wind-driven slate slippage on properties standing exposed on the valley sides above Blaina.
  • Industrial Estate: Identifying gutter siltation and panel corrosion on large-span commercial units.
  • Terraced Access: Efficient health checks for tight-street properties in Nantyglo where traditional access is difficult.
  • Riverside Properties: Spotting moss growth and gutter failure near water sources.

Tracing Leaks & Leak Detection in Blaina

Locating the entry point before the repair is priced.

Water Travels Before It Shows

On the Blaina and Nantyglo terraces, rain driven up the Ebbw Fach gets under a lap or behind a flashing and then runs along the battens, so the ceiling stain sits well away from the failure. We survey every plane, ridge, valley and abutment at zoom and work back from the damp to the defect that is causing it.

No Scaffold, No Stripped Tiles

Conventional trace and access on an upland terrace means access equipment before any diagnosis happens, and on these gradients that is the bulk of the bill. A single flight reaches the rear pitch, the shared valleys and the stack tops without touching the building, and there is nothing to reinstate when we leave.

A Report Claims Handlers Accept

You get a dated written condition report, the full set of raw images and the 4K video. That is what an insurer, a managing agent or a roofer needs in order to act. Because we never quote for the repair, nothing in the report is written to win follow-on work.

Right to Light & Sunlight Assessments

Measured aerial evidence for daylight and overshadowing questions in NP13.

What We Provide

Blaina and Nantyglo are built in stepped ranks up a steep valley side, so one property routinely sits directly above its neighbour's windows. When an extension, a loft conversion or a new build raises a roofline, the argument that follows is about daylight.

We capture the geometry that argument depends on: calibrated aerial imagery, roof and ridge heights, relative levels between plots, and a photographic record of the existing outlook from above. Where the site suits it, we can supply a measured 3D model or point cloud of the neighbouring roofscape.

How It Is Used

  • Supporting evidence for a planning application or objection
  • Base data for a solicitor, planning consultant or rights of light surveyor
  • Before-and-after records where a neighbouring roofline has changed
  • Overshadowing and outlook records for boundary disputes

We are a survey and data operator, not a legal adviser. A formal right of light determination is made by a rights of light surveyor or solicitor; our role is to give them accurate measurements and imagery to work from.

Blaina Roof Surveys: Weather, Damp and NP13 Coverage

Upland valley questions, answered plainly.

Can you fly in the wind we get up here?

Often yes, within the aircraft's limits, and we plan around the forecast rather than hoping. If conditions on the day fall outside safe limits we do not fly and you are not charged; a rescheduled visit is billed at the original quoted rate.

Water is coming through an upstairs wall, not the ceiling. Is that still a roof job?

Frequently it is. On rendered upland terraces a cracked verge, a failed abutment or an overflowing hopper puts water into the wall head, which then travels down. We photograph the roof edge and the rainwater goods as well as the slopes for precisely this reason.

Do you cover Nantyglo, Coalbrookvale and Cwmcelyn?

Yes, along with Blaina town, and Abertillery and Brynmawr close by. NP13 sits within our zero-travel area from Pontypool.

The back of my house is a storey higher than the front. Does that complicate it?

Not from the air. Split-level terraces are normal here, and the drone photographs each elevation from the same standoff regardless of where the ground sits, which is something no single ladder position can do.

How quickly can you get out after a storm?

Usually within a few days, and sooner where a roof is open. Prompt storm work is worth having: dated images taken close to the event are considerably more useful to an insurer than photographs taken weeks afterwards.
